Vernissages and Exhibitions
Reeperbahn Festival Arts will start with four previews on Wednesday 19 September at 7.00 p.m. Gudberg will show oil paintings by Stefan Heyer, who combines pop-cultural material, writing and gestural painting in collage-like works. At PureSoul Records Silke Thoss and Bob Tooke will meet with sculptural installations featuring musicians of past decades and small-format pictures of old country and blues heroes. At Silke Thoss’ exhibition “Dispopular Paintings” at weißraumhamburg a talkative Moby will run amok near Hamburg’s Landungsbrücken. “Dead Rock Heads“ will present a picturesque tribute to dead artists at the Kamm Inn. Moreover, at Feinkunst Krüger there will be “The Harder They Cum...” by Thomas Grundmann, large paper works investigating the question on the reality of image or reflection. During “George Hearts Maria” at Helium Cowboy you will encounter contemporary interpretations of the lost eye-miniature collection. Apart from the exhibition “paradiese”, where a number of photographers deal with the dualism of nature and artificiality and the ruptured paradisiacal, the Lazy Dog Gallery and kulturreich will present DJ Runge who will roll out his paradisiacal sound carpet.
Live-Acts & Party
With their punk attitude, a pinch of power pop and the spirit of a young Paul Wellers The Riots will expect us at the Molotow Bar at 8 pm. The three youngsters drifted through London’s culture and music scene for two years before they backtracked to Moscow and now also Hamburg. Then the party goes on with Beatmania – Sixties Beat Bar. Just a three-minute walk from here at the cosy Hasenschaukel, The Hidden Poems consisting of the singer songwriters Lara Martin & Shawn Jurek together with the Swiss Chère Françoise will create a sound experience made up of lyric folk finesse, part singing and electric instrumentation from 9.30 pm. The show will end with record playing.
Warm-Up Party
The evening will culminate in a Reeperbahn Festival warm-up party at Grünspan. From 10.30 pm the promising and Foo Fighters-supported band from Cologne BenjRose will give a concert. Afterwards Katja Ruge and Frank Ilgener will welcome dancers with “Kann denn Liebe Synthie sein?“.
Welcome to Warm-Up Wednesday!
