Record Store Gigs
Record stores have their very particular charme. And especially Michelle Records, Zardoz and Groove City in Hamburg combine that special mixture of cool atmosphere and almost bottomless selection of records! And during the Reeperbahn Festival there exists another reason why you should visit these stores: In an intimate atmosphere visitors can experience Wintersleep from Canada on Thursday at 6 p.m. at Michelle Records. On Saturday Skip & Die will heat up Groove City at noon at Karoviertel while Jon Spencer And The Blues Explosion will groove Zardoz at 5:30 p.m. More artists might be added. You will find any updates on our social media channels.
Unplugged Sessions
Zu guter Letzt performen am Samstag Catfish And The Bottlemen, Intergalactic Lovers, Frànçois & The Atlas Mountains und King Charles.

Yellow Lounge Concerts @Reeperbahn Festival
It is the ambitious goal of the Yellow Lounge Concerts series, starting in the course of the Reeperbahn Festival 2012, to attract a new audience to classical music. This night will be presented to you by Universal Music Classics & Jazz and Elbphilharmonie Concerts.
We proudly and happily present the opening night programme:
Recomposed by Max Richter: Vivaldi, The Four Seasons
Elfa Run Kristinsdottir, violin
Hamburger Symphoniker (Hamburg Symphony Orchestra)
Conductor: André de Ridder
Benyamin Nuss, piano
Works by Debussy, Ginastera, Uematsu as well as his own compositions
Spark
will present their new album “Folk Tunes“
By assignment of Deutsche Grammophon and in cooperation with the German conductor André de Ridder the British composer Max Richter recomposed and recorded Vivaldi’s »The Four Season’s« (1725) for the CD series “Recomposed”. The album will be published on 31August 2012. At the Reeperbahn Festival de Ridder will present the exciting mix of Vivaldi and Richter, of baroque and minimalistic, exclusively live, featuring the soloist Elfa Run Kristinsdottir and the Hamburg Symphony Orchestra! Max Richter will be present.
In September 2012 the quintet Spark will release their debut album on Deutsche Grammophon (their second album ever), an interfusion of classical orchestral sounds, flute and doom-folk elements.
We have the honour of welcoming the young pianist Benyamin Nuss: His second album »Exotica«, a musical journey from Debussy and Ginastera to his own compositions such as »Elegie für Fukushima – Elegy for Fukushima«, has just been released.
As always at Yellow events the musical framework for the evening will be provided by DJ David Canisius, violinist at the Deutsche Kammerorchester (German Chamber Orchestra) and co-founder of »Yellow Lounge« .
Introducing Night at Reeperbahn Festival
For one and a half years Introducing has been a monthly must for the music lovers of our capital. For these concert nights the editors of Intr and Melt! are on the lookout for upcoming bands which are already called for, but still have not made their breakthrough. Acts are selected without limitation in terms of genre; the motto is: “Let bands perform that sound new and thrilling!“
Introducing has already staged Kakkmaddafakka, Einar Stray, Breton and Citizens! which will also be seen at the Reeperbahn Festival 2012. And this takes us to the question how Introducing the Reeperbahn Festival go together.
As the Introducing Nights are very popular in the Berlin music scene they will go on tour through Germany for the first time in September 2012. After stopping over at various live clubs in Cologne, Frankfurt, Munich and Berlin Introducing will close the tour at the Reeperbahn Festival in the far north.
Icona Pop from Sweden, rocking the house with danceable electro pop songs, as well as the British acts Clock Opera, combining pop from the ´60s with extravagant indie sounds and sound experiments, as well as Foxes whose songs are dominated by ´80s beat arrangements and epic synthies will all be guests at the Introducing Night on 22 September.
The venue for this promising night will be none other than Café Keese, one of the cult locations on the Reeperbahn.
Conclusion: It’s a must!

DIAL T FOR TAPETE: The Tapete Label Night
A look at the calendar, and then a double take . . . yep, it’s really true: 2002 to 2012. Exactly ten years! That’s how long Tapete Records has been around. Holy smoke! If that isn’t a reason to party! And what could be more fitting for a Hamburg record label than to celebrate at the Reeperbahn Festival? And so on Friday, September 21, it’s DIAL T FOR TAPETE label night at Grüner Jäger featuring four of the label’s newer acts:
SCHWEFELGELB (Berlin) Schwefelgelb equal Sid and Eddy flanked on stage by dancers Nyx and Hal. And they are a definite must-see—because Schwefelgelb are now international stars. The kids in Japan, the kids in England, and the kids in Spain are crazy for the duo’s hard beats. And why? Because Schwefelgelb is "two handsome German boys making in-your-face electro that’s as much punk as it is pop. Call it the neu neue deutsche Welle." (Drop Dead Magazine, USA). In any case, they’ve already achieved a fine balance between Heinrich-von-Kleist-Festival and Rammstein remix. So put on your dancing shoes!
DIAL M FOR MURDER (Stockholm) Once a duo, now—for the first time in Germany—a trio. Hey, there’s nothing like a real drummer! This Swedish group took us all by surprise in 2009 with its debut album “Fiction of Her Dreams.” Call it dark-indie-wave-pop. Their influences: Alfred Hitchcock, love & hate, low frequency bass, old drum machines, London, and indie fashion. The “old drum machines” thing is probably done with now. Or is the new drummer a man-machine? And thanks for the inspiration, guys!
NEXT STOP: HORIZON (Gothenburg) A big beard: Pär Hagström’s certainly got one of those. And he’ll hopefully still have it on September 21, otherwise this intro’s been a colossal waste of time. Next Stop: Horizon hail from that pop wonderland of Sweden and make music with a whole slew of different instruments. The sound is sometimes a bit Yann Tiersen, sometimes a bit Toms Waits, but always remarkable and somehow “Kurt Weill-esque, achingly unique, anarchic, and melodramatic. Music of bizarre beauty!” Hey, if we were you, we’d go.
ECKE SCHÖNHAUSER (Berlin) Ecke Schönhauser emerged from the punk band Herpes, play electric guitars, and are so new it’s crazy. And they’re so good that seeing them at the DIAL T FOR TAPETE night can be something to seriously boast about. When they’re looking out at us from the covers of music magazines in max. one-and-a-half months, when they sell out the big clubs, and are by far the hottest new thing around, you can say “I saw them back in 2012 at the DIAL T FOR TAPETE night at Jäger.” And then you can take a long, deep drag on your cigarette and enjoy those looks of envy and admiration.
The party’s not over until the party’s over! After the DIAL T FOR TAPETE label night, the Tapete Records all-star DJ team takes to the turntables upstairs at Grüner Jäger. Indie, soul, punk, and electro—and very, very cool drinks.

Warner Music Night mit FUN., Bonaparte und Royal Republic
One label, one evening, one location, three bands!
Meanwhile it is an institution of the Reeperbahn Festival and an absolute highlight: The Warner Music Night.
In the last six years acts like Cee-Lo Green, Marina And The Diamonds, Janelle Monáe were among the presented acts and last year also Ed Sheeran who since then started and unequalled career. Also this year the Hamburg Major-Company organised an evening presenting three acts, which are an absolute MUST see for every music fan.
On 21 September at the Große Freiheit 36 Warner will be presenting New Yorker newcomer FUN., the hottest guys from Sweden Royal Republic and also Berlin Style-Futurists Bonaparte.

The Danish Night @ Reeperbahn
That the North of Europe produces great bands in a row is nothing new. And that our Nordic neighbour Denmark is offering very special acts proves MXD (Music Export Denmark) at the Danish Night at Reeperbahn Festival! On Saturday, 22. September at 8 pm in the Cult-club Indra MXD will presents four great artists:

The four musicians of The Floor Is Made Of Lava are funny chaps. They don’t take themselves very seriously and are known to be party animals. Of course they would immediately start to dance to one of their own songs. That doesn’t come as a surprise as songs like “All Outta Love” and “Harder Than You Think” are smash hits with an irresistible rhythm.
Somewhat calmer is the music of Asbjørn. His debut album “Sunken Ships” is full of calm melodies, celli and Electro beats and his Pop sounds are soft and fragile, songs like “The Criminal” and “She’s A Hurricane” aim straight for your heart without succumbing to any of the obvious clichés.
From Minimal Electro to a wall of sound. From the Psychedelic-Rock of the 60s to the digital age of the present. The project Rangleklods draws its influences from a lot of different sources. He doesn’t just bring a laptop and a microphone, real instruments are very important to him. Esben includes as many as possible to create his sound onstage and is a restless live performer and a killer on the dance floor.
Oh, new music! Copenhagen based Søren is the mastermind behind the new favourite Internet hype Indians. He has released two fantastic songs so far: “Magic Kids” and “New”. Both songs prove that there is no creative end to Dream-Pop or Chill-Wave. It just gets more wonderful!
