Viva con Agua and FC St. Pauli

Exhibition / Photography / Fine Arts /
Hamburg, Germany

That art, football, and water projects make for a brilliant combination will be in evidence on September 21 and 22 at the Millerntor Gallery in the Millerntor Stadium. After last year’s rousing opening, FC St. Pauli and Viva con Agua are mounting a new exhibition in conjunction with the Reeperbahn Festival. And you’re invited!

At the world’s first socially-minded art gallery in a football stadium, Viva con Agua provides young artists with a dignified platform where they can show their works to a large audience. One of this year’s highlights will be the photo series The Moment after the Show by Swiss photographer Matthias Willi and journalist Olivier Joliat. Willi and Joliat ambushed musicians after their gigs, photographing them in the moments directly following their performances. Their intention: to show the musicians as they really are.

The Millerntor Gallery will feature a colourful mix of street art, photography, illustration, installations, paintings, drawings, and concerts. In an approach very much in keeping with Viva con Agua’s philosophy, young artists will be granted entry to the Millerntor catacombs to develop their artistic potential, all in the cause of clean water. The Millerntor Gallery seeks to create an arena for these artists where they can showcase both themselves and their socially conscious works.

All Millerntor Gallery proceeds benefit Viva con Agua. With a donation, you can contribute to the realisation of a water project in Uganda, where Viva con Agua is helping provide 12,600 people with clean drinking water through the construction of wells.
