What are the reasons for the economic strength of heavy metal and related music types? How are fans consuming their music, and where do the fundamental differences lie relative to mainstream and other niche music styles?But times have changed in the heavy metal world, too, and the fate of Roadrunner Records is just one case study demonstrating the general shifts in the music business that are also befalling heavy metal. In this session, we undertake a (self) critical journey to this very special region of the music industry. Chairing this session is none other than Ossy Hoppe. As head of Wizard Promotions he's had plenty of experience working with artists of all musical stripes - no matter whether Iron Maiden or Lady Gaga, Kiss or Sting.
