Keynote from Claudio Trotta: Diversity at risk?!
Claudio Trotta of Barley Arts is the most successful independent concert promoter in Italy- and he has a reputation for saying what he thinks. Whether organising shows by AC/DC, Queen, or Bruce Springsteen, Trotta is an old-school impresario with a very modern understanding of today's concert business-and this is reflected above all in his pointed comments on current events in politics and (the music) business. In his speech on this year's conference theme, "Diversity at Risk?!", Trotta will take aim at the concert business's current market position in the context of a crisis-ridden Europe.
Claudio Trotta has been in the concert business since 1975 and head of Italian concert agency Barley Arts since 1979. In addition to the above-mentioned acts, his regular artists include KISS, The Cure, Lilly Allen, and the Chemical Brothers. In 2006, he organised the largest single-artist concert of all time featuring top Italian act Ligabue and a 170,000-strong crowd.
