Last year, James Blake gained a lot of attention for his slow, minimalist Electro-Pop. This year, it is a young Danish guy who follows in his footsteps. Asbjørn Toftdahl’s debut album “Sunken Ships” is full of calm melodies, celli and Electro beats. Producer Jonas Tranberg is a master of refining delicate sounds even more. One of his former clients is the collective Efterklang. Tofdahl’s Pop sounds are soft and fragile, songs like “The Criminal”, “Strange Ears” and “She’s A Hurricane” aim straight for your heart without succumbing to any of the obvious clichés. If you have a soft spot for unusual singers like Tim and Jeff Buckley or Anthony, then you should listen to Asbjørn.
