Clock Opera
To reinvent Pop music is impossible. But that doesn't necessarily mean young artists aren't able to create new, innovative music. Clock Opera is a quartet based in London and a good example for something new that makes us recall memories without being retro. Founded in 2009, the band released their debut "Ways To Forget" this spring. The record combines 60s Pop like the underrated, The Move have played it, with the extravaganza of The Sparks, the playful Indie moves of Yo La Tengo and the sound experiments of Edgar Varese, who influenced Frank Zappa in the 60s. There are elements of 50 years of Pop history united in the songs of the quartet but it is hard to push them into one single genre corner. And that's what makes their performances so interesting. They've earned their status as an "Avant Pop Group".
