Amanda Mair
Listening to Amanda Mair's voice brings to mind a list of big Pop singers: Agneta of Abba, Dusty Springfield, Kate Bush. It's hardly surprising the 18-year-old school girl from Stockholm is already labelled the "next big thing". The Guardian called her "Sweden's next breakthrough artist", MTV made her the "Indie-Pop-Darling" and Popjustice calls her debut album "one of the most exciting releases this year". A safe indicator for a bright future is the fact that the album will be released on Sony Music. The songs - all written by Amanda herself - are catchy, which is hardly surprising: Amanda plays the drums, guitar and bass. For a while she was in a Hard-Rock-Garage band covering songs by the Hellacopters. Her debut is a bit more Pop than that. Maybe because she had a different band on her mind while recording. "I like the Spice Girls", she says.
