Half Girl
Only four of my Facebook friends like Half Girl from Berlin: two of them play in a very promising Indie band, another musician is working on her current album and the fourth is a music journalist with a very good knowledge of German Avantgarde-Pop. But let's return to Half Girl. This small German Indie supergroup is comprised of bass player Julie Miess from Britta, Pop-Bohemienne Julia Wilton, Luise Pop guitarist Vera Krop and drummer Anna Leena Lutz. Their music oscillates between cuddly 60s sing-along's and carefully deconstructed rockisms. The lyrics tell stories of monsters, cats, murderers and Lemmy Kilmister. It is an exciting mix where cuteness flirts with the abyss, lullabys coexist with cultural theory. Half Girl are planning to release their debut album soon. It's going to raise a lot of eyebrows and critic's pens. Like!
