Skip & Die
Skip&Die started as a collaboration between South African singer and visual artist Catarina Aimée Dahms (aka Cata.Pirata) and Dutch producer Jori Collignen. It blossomed to something very special. The album "Riots In The Jungle" was written on a journey through Soweto and Johannesburg, Cape Town and Guguletu which lead to collaborations with rising stars of African music. Skip&Die's sound is somewhere between Hip Hop and tribal drums, Experimental as well as something unidentifiable. These traces get us to the heart of their own experiences: the burning sun, dusty streets, cockroaches, protests, bones, skulls and white doves. These contradictions were set to music in English, Afrikaans, Xhosa, Zulu, Spanish and Portuguese. In case it isn't already obvious: Skip&Die are one of THE highlights for the listener offside the UK/US mainstream.
