Sleepy Sun
The term soundscapes is often used without any real context. Unless, of course, we’re talking about Stoner Rock or, in the case of Sleepy Sun, Stoner Pop! This band from San Francisco knows how to write broad-psychedelic-songs capturing your mind and taking you to far away places. But they never forget their roots: Pop-music. Unlike their Stoner colleagues, Sleepy Sun don’t have 5-minute-long reverb excesses. And that makes them special! They have been very busy releasing three albums in less than three years. Their last work “Spine Hits” came out in April and is the first without co-frontwoman Rachel Fannan. Her captivatingly cool voice is missed but Sleepy Sun make more than up for it. This is music that has to be played loud. Very loud.
