Gabriel Bruce

Other / Indie-Rock / Experimental / Synth-Pop /
London, Great Britain

There is no way to escape his voice: Gabriel Bruce has that kind of a deep voice that reminds us of Nick Cave or Leonard Cohen.  In his song "Sleep Paralysis" the young Londoner tells us in a very grown up manner about "The things I've seen" and this certain feeling of death: "I've got this feeling I was dead and there's nothing more". Underneath his vocals are electronic noise and guitar fragments, just before the deep rhythm of drums that sounds like a heartbeat starts. In "Zoe" he murmurs about the "Gunshot voice" of the eponym and about vomiting out his inner life. Instead of just dedicating his work to easygoing songwriter pieces, this young man rages in pieces like "Dark Lights Shine Loud" so that no one can accuse him of any epigone tendencies. Gabriel Bruce is a fascinating songwriter of our times and doesn't give a damn about comfortable bonfires and simple acoustic guitars. The organs burn, hearts lie smashed on the ground and when love gets buried, no one else can speak the prayer better than Gabriel Bruce, his voice was made for it.
