Intelligent Pop has returned to Hamburg: new band Bessere Zeiten are breaking all clichés on their debut "Sanktionen im Schutt". Their music is demanding, new and very exciting. Joachim Franz Büchner, Jochen Bader, and Björn Kant play the drums, keyboards and bass with a strong rhythmical style. It sounds bulky at first but soon you won't be able to live without it. This is cleverly constructed Pop music, infiltrating your brain on a subliminal level. Just like their lyrics: At first glance it seems like an intellectual universe of architecture, sociology, literature and dada. But it's quite simple, really: "Throw away old, unwanted words and invent new ones. Like 'kraut-tongues'. That sounds good, raspy and weird like crowded speech [...] The lyrics are hard to penetrate. The will to change is something radically subjective and the only thing uniting the whole."
