Deep Sea Arcade
Deep Sea Arcade The hairstyle is perfect. The shirt of singer Nick McKenzie is wonderfully retro. The five boys of Deep Sea Arcade draw their inspirations from Psychedelic-Rock of the 60s and 70s as well as from the good old sound of Brit Pop. The outcome is a hypnotising guitar sound and a pumping bass. But one very important influence shall not be forgotten: Deep Sea Arcade are from Australia, more precisely Sydney, which adds a certain flavour to the sound of a lot of bands from Down Under. It is a very laid back flow of melodies and an easygoing playfulness. The band was initially formed by school friends Nick McKenzie and Nic Weaver as a hobby they could pursuit in the afternoon. Tim Chamberlain, Simon Relf and drummer Carlos Adura joined the band later on. After intensive touring and a highly acclaimed EP, the band released their debut album "Outlands" last March in Australia. And they've earned nothing but applause for their Psychedelic Rock songs. Speaking of clapping, in their video to "Steam" the band shows a very weird technique to produce their clap sounds (hint: use your bottom!). Maybe it's not everyone's taste: Decide for yourself how you want to applaud this great band.
