The Jon Spencer Blues Explosion
It's been eight years since the Jon Spencer Blues Explosion released their last album. The new one titled "Meat and Bone" will be ready just in time for Reeperbahn Festival. "We've been on tour together for a year, wrote new songs and discovered we still work pretty well as a band" says singer and guitarist Jon Spencer. "This album feels like a debut." Spencer and his colleagues Judah Bauer and Russell Simins left New York and travelled to the loneliness of Benton Harbor / Minnesota to record the twelve tracks of the new album.There's been a couple of bands who discovered the Blues for themselves and reinterpreted it - most prominently the Black Keys. But Jon Spencer was the first: He's been destroying and rebuilding the Blues with his trio for more than 20 years now.
