This young lady started early, had a little throwback but is back on her feet: better, darker and more successful than before. We're talking about Charlotte Aitchison (born 1992) who grew up close to London. She started performing her Dada-Electro-Rap at parties at the age of 14 that she legally wasn't allowed to attend. She released her first singles at the age of 15/16 and became an internet starlet. Then she took a break. Too much hype, too little songs. She slowed down, took her time. Charli XCX' style can be summed up like this: a little bit of everything and lots of it! Hyperrealism with a good dose of 90s influence. She claims it's time to bring back Girl Power - but with more edge. Maybe that's why she dusted off last decade's plateau boots. "Nuclear Season", the single she released last year, was a favourite at Pitchfork Media. Produced by Patrik Berger of Robyn and Lana del Rey fame, her music has grown and become cooler, shadowy, and just better. The debut album will hit the shelves in autumn until then Charli XCX will tour with Santigold and pay the Reeperbahn Festival a visit. Remember this name, we're sure there's a lot more coming from this dark Electro-Pop neon golden girl.
