The Reeperbahn Festival is a place to let go of genre limitations in your head. Jazz music is one of our most important concerns. Especially if it is created by such a breathtaking trio like Michael Wollny's [em]. There are nearly no words to describe the dynamic of exceptional pianist Wollny, bassist Eva Kruse and drummer Eric Schaefer. Always longing to create the new, the beautiful and the truthful. For example on their current album "Wasted & Wanted", on which we can hear new versions of Classical music as well as modern pieces (for example Kraftwerk) and their own compositions. But you are more likely to experience the new and the truthful at their gigs. They've been on the road together for years and it really does pay off. If it is supposed to be harmonic, it is just wonderful; when they compete against each other with their instruments in Punk manner, it is dangerously fascinating; and when it comes to improvising, it is jaw-dropping. It doesn't surprise us that Michael Wollny's [em] won many prizes, for example the ECHO Jazz (=German grammy) as Best Ensemble of The Year. Breaking the limits of genre specifications is a great achievement for both, the band and the Reeperbahn Festival

Sounds like:
