How is that possible? The smart-asses behind Wikipedia added Goth to the sound description of the Acoustic-Folk-act Cold Specks. Canadian singer Al Spx is based in London. She amazes with her intense deep southern Gospel and soulful music. But that’s not everything; the tracks on her debut “I Predict A Graceful Expulsion” sound like Screamin’ Jay Hawkins welcoming us in ‘I put a spell on you!’. We can’t escape the somewhat bewitching power of her voice. ‘We are many, we are many / We are dust / And to dust we will all return’ she repeatedly sings in her first single “Holland”. The Goth element is not traceable in the obvious, it lies between the notes. Her music is like a curse and it is vital to listen to it closely.
