Lucille
The name Lucille has left its traces on Afro-American music: B.B. King gave his guitar the same name and Little Richard wrote a Rock'n'Roll song of the same title. So if an Israeli band decides to take on the name, it already tells us something about their sound. Formed 2010 in Tel Aviv, the nine-piece band has dedicated their work to Soul, Jazz and Blues. They name artists like The Roots, Erykah Badu, Gorillaz and the French Jazz musician Erik Truffaz as references and inspiration. The band definitely doesn't suffer from a lack of confidence: "Imagine FC Barcelona would play in the Israeli football league. That's what Lucille is like in Israel's music scene". The ensemble does indeed sound American but in a very old school way. Combines with the ability to be able to play every instrument they don't need complicated studio equipment. Lucille's live performance at Reeperbahn Festival could be one of THE discoveries. Singer Naama Chetrit's powerful voice does the rest.
