Celebration Rock is the best Rock album this summer. Full stop. The Canadian Power Noise duo’s second LP includes countless life-celebrating hymns: ‘Long lit up tonight / And still drinking / Don't we have anything to live for? / Well of course we do / But 'til it comes true / We're drinking’. The opener can be confidently seen as dogmatic - Brian King and David Prowse are well-known for their wild shows, including blood sweat and the best ‘Ooooooohhhhsssss’ and ‘Ohhhhhhhh Yeahhhhhs’ around. “Evil Sway” is a perfect example for their energetic appearances: Prowse drums himself into a state of ecstasy, while King’s guitar sound tears everything apart and both start to scream for their lives. The importance of melody, however, never gets drowned in the powerful noise. Japandroids never appear aggressive with all the roaring, overdrive and excess - they just go absolutely nuts in an euphoric way. They are like the wildest young dogs you can imagine. Two instruments creating a chaos of intensity. Japandroids are like a buzzing wasps’ nest. But they won't sting you. They just want to play!

Sounds like:
Fugazi, Superchunk, Cloud Nothings
